We care deeply about protecting your privacy and are committed to making Localscope a product that people love and trust. This document outlines how we use and disclose the personally identifiable information (which we call “Personal Information”) and other non-identifiable information (which we address as “Non-Identifiable Anonymous Information”) that we collect. This Policy does not cover any other products or applications made by the company; Cynapse or any of its websites. This Policy covers our collection, use and disclosure of your information through Localscope. It does not cover any collection, use or disclosure by third parties through any applications, Web sites, products or services that we do not control or own, or any third party features or services made available via Localscope. All trademarks, trade names, and logos of third parties featured on the Application belong to their respective owners.
What information do we collect?
When you use Localscope we may collect Anonymous or Personal Information, as described below:
Non-Identifiable Anonymous Technical Information
When you use Localscope, we receive and store certain personally Non-Identifiable information. Such information, which is collected passively using various technologies, cannot presently be used to specifically identify you.
“Non-Identifiable Anonymous Information” is information that does not identify you or any other individual, and includes Session and Usage Data and Aggregate Information, each as described below.
Session and Usage Data
“Session and Usage Data” is information about your use of Localscope and includes data submitted to us through your use of the Application. We also may aggregate Session and Usage data as described in Aggregate Information below. Please note that Session and Usage Data does not include any Personal Information nor does it include content you may share through the use of Localscope.
“Aggregate Information” is data we collect on how you use Localscope from which individual user identities have been removed. It may be collected and combined with information about how others use Localscope, but no personally identifiable information will be included in the resulting Aggregate Information. Aggregate Information helps us understand trends in our users’ needs so that we can better consider new features or otherwise tailor the Application.
Localscope may store such anonymous technical information on Cynapse servers or such information may be included in databases owned and maintained by Cynapse employees or service providers. Cynapse may use such information and pool it with other information to track, for example, the total number of users of our Application or how our users use and interact with Localscope so we can work on improving your user experience, but this type of Non-Identifiable Anonymous Information does not identify you personally. Localscope may also disclose usage statistics in order to describe our Application to current and prospective business partners, and to other third parties for other lawful purposes.
A Note About Location
Localscope is designed to help you learn more or find interesting locations or events nearby your surroundings and the Application uses the GPS on your mobile to provide this functionality. Localscope logs your location in a way whereby all individual user identities have been removed before collecting the information. Localscope detects your location based on your GPS co-ordinates to display your current location and based on that, finds relevant local information around you by comparing the co-ordinates provided by the third party sites that Localscope integrates with. There is no way for us or another user of the Localscope application or the content you access via the application to get any personally identifiable information about you, unless you choose to share it via third party applications or sites like Twitter.
How do we use your information?
- to monitor use of the Application and improve the user experience;
- to monitor crashes of the Application to remove bugs from the Application.
- to respond to your comments and inquiries;
- to communicate with you regarding the Application; and
- for any other purpose for which the information was provided
Sharing of Personal Information
You can use the Application without providing any Personal Information.
Links to other websites
Our Application may contain links to other websites not operated or controlled by Localscope or Cynapse. The policies and procedures we describe here do not apply to these third party sites, nor do the links from this Application imply that Localscope endorses or has reviewed these third party sites. We suggest contacting those sites directly for information on their privacy policies.
Third party login and authorization
The Application provides various sources for you discover information about your surroundings. Currently only the Facebook source requires you to log in with your Facebook account to access locations shared by other users in that location on Facebook. When you authorize Localscope using Facebook, we will provide you with an option to choose who can see posts that you share from Localscope on Facebook. We do not collect any personal information from Facebook about you or your friends. Even though we display information from Facebook based on your location, we cannot identify your Personal Information nor do we have access to the information you have shared from within the Application. However, please remember that the manner in which Facebook uses, stores and discloses your information is governed by its policies, and Localscope shall have no liability or responsibility for its privacy practices or other actions.
You may at times have the option of posting your findings from Localscope to other social networking service like Facebook or Twitter. You acknowledge that if you choose to use this feature, your friends, followers and subscribers on any social networking services you have enabled will be able to view such findings.
Steps we take to protect your privacy
Localscope takes steps to protect the Personal Information provided via the Service from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no Internet, email or other electronic transmission is ever fully secure or error free, so you should take special care in deciding what information you send to us in this way.
