Numerics 9: Metrics As Easy As Notes
June 3, 2024

Ten years ago, we started Numerics with a vision: help business leaders track every metric that matters. Our app with 90+ built-in SaaS integrations help track sales performance, monitor marketing campaigns and watch revenue growth. Yet the numbers that keep leaders up at night are still hard to access, buried in emails, chat logs or spreadsheets.
Today, we move closer to our vision to seamlessly mix structured metrics with ad-hoc metrics enabling customers to track any number that matters most to them.
With Numerics v9, we introduce Freeform Metrics, giving you the flexibility to manually input, calculate, and visualize the metrics that matter most. Record and store changes, design advanced calculations, and collaborate with your team—all within the app.
Transforming how you track metrics
The new Freeform Metrics break away from the reliance on cloud data sources or spreadsheets. Think of Freeform Metrics as your personal metric tracking system, built around three powerful capabilities that work together seamlessly:
The Recorder: Natural as Taking Notes

If you have a number you want to track, add a Freeform Recorder. Manually log data individually or collaboratively with others. Visualize the changes in the recorded metric over time in a bar graph. All entries are logged and saved on device, ensuring you have access to your metrics even when you are offline.
The Recorder features a natural language Smart Entry Bar. Designed to easily capture your metrics, you can enter a value directly or calculate values using common operations. Type “$1,240” in the Daily Sales Recorder or “4.5 today” in the Customer Rating Recorder, just like you’d write a note. Add #tags like #sales or #feedback to classify entries. A retail owner can log daily walk-ins during store rounds, and a support manager can record satisfaction scores right after customer calls.
The true power of the Recorder is the ability to add recurring Reminders. You can add recurring reminders to notify you when it’s time to add a new entry. Now, you can never forget to update your metrics.
The Calculator: From Numbers to Insights

The second aspect of Freeform Metrics is the Freeform Calculator. The Calculator gives customers the ability to operate upon the saved data in the Recorders. It brings together aggregated values from multiple recorders to derive totals, set targets, and analyze results for dynamic timespans.
A sales leader can combine multiple store revenues to see regional performance. A product manager can calculate average satisfaction scores filtered by #feature tags. Use built-in functions or craft custom formulas to derive exactly what you need - weekly sales targets, monthly satisfaction trends, or year-over-year growth. As your team logs new entries, these calculated metrics update automatically, keeping your insights current and reliable.
Team Collaboration: One Source of Truth

No more chasing updates through chat or email. Assign recorder reminders to your store managers for daily sales, support team for satisfaction scores, or marketing team for campaign metrics. As numbers get logged, everyone from the regional manager to the CEO sees the same updated visualizations. One source of truth, no manual compilation needed.
