Is the Lite edition absolutely free?
Yes. We believe that the activity of dashboarding is an idea worth spreading, and the goal of the Lite edition is just that. Our hope is that users of the Lite edition find Numerics useful enough to upgrade to the paid editions. There are no advertising or other monetization models applied. This is sustainable for us as Numerics does not rely on, or store your data on any cloud infrastructure and the free edition does not rake up infrastructure bills for us.
Why recurring subscriptions?
Unlike traditional ‘Software as a Service’ Numerics usage does not have cloud infrastructure costs attached to it. However, keeping the product updated with the latest platform enhancements and maintaining its integrations with the ever changing APIs of the SaaS world is an ongoing cost. Subscription revenue allows us to focus on continuous product improvements without worrying about constantly opening up new target markets.
